Classic Face and Neck Lift

Which areas are intervened in face and neck lift operations? Who is eligible for this surgery?

If aging signs on your face make you uncomfortable, facelift may be suitable for you. Facelift is a rejuvenation surgery that improves the signs of aging on the face and neck. These symptoms:

– Sagging in the mid-face area

– The presence of deep grooves in the lower eyelids (tear groove)

– Deep grooves extending from nasal edges to mouth corners

– Reduction of fat tissue in the face and downward replacement of the fat tissue

– Reduction in the facial muscle tone, square shape of the face by losing its oval shape

– The skin laxity and fat collection under the chin, double chin-like appearance

In facelift surgery; loosened skin, loosened subcutaneous tissue and muscle tissue are intervened. It does not provide a compatible appearance to make the intervention only on the face but not rejuvenating the eyelids. For this reason, it is necessary to include eyelid aesthetics almost in every case. Psychologically healthy, non-smoker patients who have realistic expectations are eligible for this operation.

What are the operation steps?

Facelift is performed under general anaesthesia. It takes 2.5 hours on average. Sometimes, additional surgical procedures (cheek lift, Botox injection, fat injection) might be required and operation may take longer.

Facelift incision starts in front of the ear and turns behind under the earlobe, ends in the scalp.  The skin is removed. The fat tissue is reshaped, especially in the neck and jaw area. Subcutaneous deep tissues and muscle tissue are tightened. The skin is covered again on the tightened tissue and the excess part is removed. It is closed up with aesthetics surgery stitches.

How long after the operation can I return to work and do make-up?

You will get a bandage on your face and a small drain to prevent blood accumulation under the skin. Your doctor will change your dressing the next day and take out the drain. However, it is appropriate to continue the bandage or mask for 3 days. When your face is opened on the 3rd day, you will see swelling and partial bruises on your face. It takes 10 days for the swelling and bruises to disappear. From the 10th day to the 6th month, your face will begin to be shaped and look more natural. You can do makeup and return to work after 10 days. Stitches on the eyelid will be taken on the 5th day and stitches on your face will be taken on the 10th day.

How is the pre-operative preparation period?

Pre-operative blood tests will be performed by your doctor before the operation. Do not smoke 3 weeks in advance and avoid using aspirin and other anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplement capsules 10 days in advance. Do not drink alcohol 2 days in advance. Ask your doctor about the medications you have to use continuously and ask if they interfere with the surgery.
